How to get into cybersport

Cyber sport as a phenomenon is quite young and does not even have the status of an official sport in many countries, and is not on everyone’s radar. But among those who are ionate about games, there are quite a lot of people who want to get into cybersport. Today we’ll tell you how to the ranks of eSports or those who are directly involved in cybersports.

What you need to get into eSports

Distant observers of e-sport tournaments often get the mistaken impression that entering into eSports is as simple as picking up a keyboard/mouse and being almost a champion. But in fact the path to eSports is no less arduous than the path to pro football. It takes more than just a desire to become a professional gamer – it also takes a lot of time and patience to hone your skills, some talent (you can do without it, but then you’ll have to put twice as much effort) and a pinch of luck to catch a team’s eye. But first things first.

How to get into cybersport

First, to become a cyber-sportsperson you need to realise that computer games are not just entertainment, but in fact your job. That is, a significant portion of your time from now on should be devoted to computer games. Or rather the game – the one you plan to do upright. You should not just play, but memorize the course of the game, analyze the position of your opponents and their capabilities, and adapt your actions to the situation. Not only you need to hone your reflexes on simple opponents, but also learn how to beat a strong opponent tactically and strategically.

Secondly, you will need like-minded people. Even in single player matches it is worth to have an outside look – when your eyes are not “washed” by the fight, you can better see your opponent’s weaknesses and obvious mistakes of your teammate. So even a replay by yourself will give you more information than a solo replay.

If the game is a team game, you also need a teammate on the battlefield. You can of course try to rely on random players chosen by the server to your team. But often the level dispersion of players is so great, that inadequate actions of your allies will negate all attempts to complete the game with your victory. Therefore even one permanent ally can turn the tide of the game. And if you manage to build up a team, you can prepare for expansion on the eSports Olympus.

Once you’ve established your level and gathered like-minded players, it’s time to start playing in tournaments. Just browse the local computer clubs and websites of various eSports leagues to put together a plan of action for the next couple of months. By “rolling” against other teams that have played, you’ll already be able to really assess your current level. You’ll also gather data on other tactics (for analysis) and get a lot of impressions (which is also important). If you’re really lucky, you might even get a title. The main thing is not to relax, but to redouble your efforts in the next tournaments.

That way you get noticed by one of the top teams, or one of the tournament organizers. After that, you will either be invited directly to the squad, or to replace a sick player. Or even an invitation to a tournament of a higher level where only the serious squads are hired (which means congratulations are in order for you to become at least a semi-professional team). You’ll get a sponsor if your team does well. And if your team has a good manager you can expand into a eSports organization.

Convince people that eSports is serious.

Despite the fact that eSports tournaments draw huge crowds and a few million viewers watching streams, our country is still wary of the sport. But without the of family it is virtually impossible to get past the initial stage – intensive training and participation in tournaments. After all, it all takes time and money and the only “sponsors” are relatives.

So how do you convince them that cyber sport is serious? While the task may seem overwhelming, in reality it often helps to simply tell them what it is, show them videos of tournament finals (not the streaming games, but the halls full of fans), tell them about the teams and the tournament prizes. First prize money from a local tournament will be a convincing argument. Although, if you don’t have such a “joker” yet, you can demonstrate high stats in games played. Think of your relatives as your first investors – they need to see what their money is invested in.
